Friday, Feb. 7th: Two Assignments Today

Hey All!  Sorry I can't be here today.  We're still getting ready to transition to your Temporary Job, and I want to make sure you're ready.

You have two graded assignments today.  BOTH are due before you leave, and they are on the same handout (pick up a copy from the Substitute).

FAILURE TO COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT WILL RESULT IN SUSPENSION FROM YOUR JOB AND A GRADE OF "ZERO" FOR NEXT WEEK'S PRODUCTION.  You will complete additional writing assignments instead.  SO...take this seriously, and get to work!

Assignment #1:  Describe your NEW JOB.  (5 points)
Use the links below to find a description of the NEW, temporary job that you will take over next week.  If you don't find it on one of the lists, do a Google Search!  Complete Assignment #1 on the handout using the results.  You have 20 minutes to complete this assignment.

Assignment #2:  Debrief and Approval. (5 points)
Find the person whose JOB you are TAKING.  Describe to them what you have learned about their job---the one you will be doing next week.  Once you have done so, they will tell you something about their daily duties and responsibilities--- something unique to our production.  You will write this down under Assignment #2 on your handout.
Once this process is complete, the student must SIGN OFF on your "Job Readiness" on the handout.
You have 20 minutes to complete this assignment.

Turn in your completed Handout before the end of class.

Temporary Jobs are on the board.  Shadow the person who is currently doing your job, observing their duties and asking questions.  I'll meet briefly with each of you regarding your new assignment.

Get a Job

Now that you've posted a "Help Wanted" ad for your job, it's time to start your "Job Search".  Review the postings from your peers, and select a job or two that interests you.  Email me a "letter of interest" at:  thomas_d@aps.edu    (copy and paste into the address window in your email).
  •  Explain why you want this job for a week, what you hope to learn, and why you would be a good fit for the job.
