Friday, April 26th

Periods 3 & 7: Today you will complete your Sub-Genre Presentation and submit it to the "Genre Presentations" folder on the Hard Drive.  Sign up on the calendar for presentations next week.
If your team is done early, start research on your last project:  a short "How-To" video.  Here are some examples I like, to help get you started:
How to Make A Hamburger
How To Climb A Tree
How To Dress Like A Ninja
How to Straighten Your Hair Without Heat
How to Win in Halo 3
How to Kick A Soccer Ball

Period 5: Today you will work with a partner to create a short (6- to 8-slide) Storyboard for your "How-To" video.  They are due, printed and on my desk, by the end of class today for 10 points.  Any students who did not complete their script, or finish it at home, will have written assignments to complete. Only 5 of the 10 people who completed scripts have signed up to take equipment.   Lawrence, Patrick, Ramon, Alondra and Amanda still need to sign up.
Raw footage for the "How-To" video is due next Friday, May 3rd, for 30 points.
Next week, we'll be reshooting for "Beautiful Rose".  Kevin R. and Vincent will make call sheets today so everyone knows when they are needed.

BONUS: Ianna, Lisa and Mariah

Congrats to Ianna G, Lisa C. and Mariah J., who were the only students to read the fine print on Wednesday's blog.  They've earned 5 bonus points to spend however they see fit!

It always pays to read the directions.  All of them. ;)

Wednesday, April 24th DFP2

Period 5:  By the end of class today, you should:
-->
·      Watch several example videos on YouTube that match your "How To" category.  Be ready to explain to the substitute WHY this example is relevant to your idea.
·      You must spend at least the last 30 minutes of class typing step-by-step directions in Microsoft Word.  These directions are for your “How-To” video.  This ensures you won’t forget a step in the script.  ALL students must print their list with their name on it, and turn it in to the sub by 12:00 p.m.  Don’t wait until the last minute---it backs up the printer.
·      The only exception is Kevin Rodriguez---he’s allowed to edit the class’s “Horror” film for part of the period.

Periods 3 & 7
By the end of class today, you should:
  • Have a working definition of your subgenre
  • Have chosen a format for your Power Point and started creating slides
  • Have found a list of several example films in your Subgenre
  • Have a list of key Art Department, Plot and Character Elements
  • Have found 2 or 3 trailers to choose from for your example clip

Review the Presentation Guidelines in the post from Thursday, April 11th for more info.
We will start Presentations next week.

Period 5:  We continue with SciFi Presentations, today and tomorrow.  When we finish, we'll start researching "How To" videos.  Share an example with your classmates.

How To Climb A Tree
How To Dress Like A Ninja
How to Straighten Your Hair Without Heat
How to Win in Halo 3
How to Kick A Soccer Ball

Buddy: Iridian, Mayra & Mikaela
Spoof/Parody: Mariah & Lisa
